Copenhagen – the capital city of the kingdom of Denmark since 1417 – is a city in which the modern developments of the 20th century, far from spoiling the atmosphere of history and old-world charm, have been blended with the older buildings and monuments to from a thriving and harmonious environment.
On this tour which is an ideal introduction to the city, you will pass the main highlights within Copenhagen by bus including the Tycho Brahe Planetarium, Tivoli Gardens and the New Carlsberg Glyptotek, through the colourful canal district, past the National Museum to Christiansborg Palace, housing the Danish Parliament. Continue to the old Stock Exchange and cross the Kongens Nytorv with the Royal Theatre, world famous for its Royal Ballet. Then passing Nyhavn to Amalienborg Palace, the winter residence of the Royal Family and the beautiful park, Amaliehaven at the seafront. From here you will have the most fantastic view to the new Opera House.
This is followed by a visit to the Gefion Fountain and further to the Little Mermaid, the diminutive statue that has become the world famous symbol of Copenhagen, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale.
Hereafter we continue to the magnificent Grundtvig Church (incl. inside visit), and on the way you will pass Rosenborg Castle, where the royal crown jewels are kept.

Walking tour
You will have the option on having part of the tour to be arranged as walking tour.
We suggest walking through the medieval Copenhagen as follows:
Town Hall, Gammel Torv & Nytorv, Our Lady’s Church, The University, Store Kannikestræde, Round Tower, Skindergade, The Square of Gråbrødre, Strædet, Gammel Strand (the former fish market), Pistolstræde, Grønnegade Kongens Nytorv (Kings Square) and Nyhavn (the charming New Harbour area.
With this tour, you will explore some of the most charming areas of Copenhagen. The guide will tell about the Danish way of living and the participants are welcome to ask questions along the way.
Duration of this walking tour is 1½ – 2 hours. Please inform us on your wishes and on how much walking you wish to include and we will prepare a program suggestion that will suit your wishes and requirements.
Option: Rosenborg Castle
Visit the impressive Rosenborg Castle – and see the world famous Crown Jewels.
The castle is built between 1606 and 1617 by King Christian IV – a prodigious instigator of building and construction work, who today is often referred to as the “builder-king”. Today, the castle houses a fine collection of porcelain silverware and fine art, which have belonged to Danish monarchs through the ages, as well as the Crown Jewels and Coronation regalia.
Option: Christiansborg Castle
Christiansborg Palace on Slotsholmen in Copenhagen was built for the country’s three supreme powers: the royal power, the legislative power, and the judicial power. The premises of the Royal Family, mainly The Royal Reception Rooms, make up only a small part of the palace complex.
The Danish Parliament has the majority of the palace’s rooms at its disposal, while the Prime Minister’s Office and the Supreme Court are also found within the palace. Besides the Reception Rooms in the palace’s north wing, the Chapel and the bulk of the Riding Ground Complex are available to the Royal Family.
Beneath Christiansborg visitors can see the ruins of two even older buildings on the site, namely Absalon’s Castle and Copenhagen Castle.

Option: Changing of the guard – at Amalienborg Palace at 12.00
The function of The Royal Danish Guards is to guard the Sovereign and the Royal palaces and also to train and form field units for the Army. The Changing of the Guard takes place every day at 12.00 noon. The Guard starts by leaving its barracks at Rosenborg Palace at 11.30 and marches through the city to Amalienborg Palace. When the Queen is in residence at Amalienborg, the Guard is accompanied by the military band of the Royal Guard. When the Queen is not in residence, the changing of the Guard is without music.
Round Tower
Round Tower was build as observatory in 1642 by King Christian IV.
There is accent by a unique 209 m spiral path and from the top of the tower; you will have the most fantastic view of Copenhagen. Please note that we can arrange serving on the top of Round Tower.
Designer Zoo
Visit the trendiest designer shop where the artists are working in the back rooms creating the most fantastic handicrafts within glass, porcelain, clothes, furniture and different pieces of art. Karsten Lauritsen, furniture designer, is the founder of the Designers Zoo concept. The concept of DesignerZoo is that 8 different designers are working under the same room – and share the same showroom with their designs. It is also the designers that are working on shifts in the showroom. We can arrange a special visit of the store where Karsten Lauridsen will tell about the history and the concept of designer Zoo. After the tour of the house, there will be time for shopping.
Carlsberg Visitors centre
Visit the home of the beer you tasted for lunch!
The brew house is a live exhibition of beer culture and classic brewing skills.
The bar of the two-storage brewery, which is located in listed buildings of historical interest, offer the visitor a panoramic view of the shining copper beer kettles which is brewing Carlsberg’s series of special beer intended particularly for beer connoisseurs.
The other part of the visitors centre display brewers’ skills in a new way by means of light, sound, movement, interactive and special effects.
The visitor’s centre also holds the world’s largest collection of bottles – and you can see the stables with 12 Jutland dray horses – a remaining from the “old days” where beer was transported by horse drawn carriages.
As part of the visit, the visitors will get the opportunity to taste the beer brewed on site.
Jewish Copenhagen
Your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby for your walking tour of the city. You will hear about the long journey of the Danish Jews through Europe, via Hamburg to the safe haven of the Kingdom of Denmark. Discover their influence on Danish culture and hear about some of the interesting and influential personalities who contributed to local Danish life over 300 years. You will be informed of the present day Jewish community, its size and the various components that went into its making. The story of the five dark years under Nazi occupation, the deeds of the Danes and their king, Christian X will not be forgotten. You will see some the interesting Jewish place and to the Great Synagogue. The guide will take you to some of the important shopping places and to The Royal Copenhagen Porcelain shop on Strøget. In between you will be able to relax at one of the outside Café’s.
