Day 1: Arrival in Oslo

Arrive in Oslo and travel to your hotel for check-in.

Meet your group leader and fellow travelers before enjoying time at leisure to begin exploring Norway’s welcoming capital. In the evening, gather for dinner at the hotel and an introduction to your upcoming Norway Frozen tour.

Overnight: Oslo
Meals included: Dinner

Day 2: Frozen-Inspired Private Tour of Oslo

After breakfast, spend the day discovering Oslo’s history, culture, architecture, and locations associated with the Norwegian inspiration behind Frozen.

Begin with a guided city tour introducing you to the landscapes and historical surroundings that have inspired filmmakers, animators, artists, and storytellers.

Akershus Fortress

Visit historic Akershus Fortress, one of Oslo’s most recognizable landmarks. Its commanding waterfront location, fortified walls, towers, and medieval atmosphere evoke the type of Scandinavian architecture associated with the fictional kingdom of Arendelle.

Near the fortress, your guide will share stories about Norway’s history and traditional winter industries, including ice harvesting from frozen ponds.

Norwegian Museum of Cultural History

Continue to the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, also known as Norsk Folkemuseum. This open-air museum provides an immersive look at Norwegian life, traditions, and architecture through the centuries.

Explore historic buildings collected from different regions of Norway, including traditional farmhouses, village structures, and examples of wooden construction dating back hundreds of years. The preserved buildings, decorative details, and surrounding landscapes create an atmosphere reminiscent of a Nordic fairy tale.

Enjoy lunch at a cozy museum café before having free time to explore Oslo independently. Your knowledgeable guide can recommend restaurants, shops, museums, and family-friendly attractions.

Optional experiences may include a visit to the Ice Bar or an interactive Northern Lights attraction.

Overnight: Oslo
Meals included: Breakfast and lunch

Day 3: Oslo to Jotunheimen National Park

After breakfast, begin your journey into Norway’s extraordinary mountain region.

Travel along the famous Valdresflye National Scenic Route toward Jotunheimen National Park. Known as the “Home of the Giants,” Jotunheimen contains some of Norway’s highest mountains and most dramatic alpine scenery.

As the route climbs to approximately 1,300 meters, or more than 4,000 feet, the landscape changes dramatically. Forests and trees gradually disappear, revealing a vast wilderness of rugged mountains, rocky plateaus, alpine lakes, and open sky.

Watch for reindeer, which may sometimes be seen in this southern Norwegian mountain region.

Your journey includes several photography stops where you can capture the magnificent landscapes featured throughout this Norway Frozen tour.

Stop at a welcoming local farm to taste Norwegian specialties and learn about rural life in the mountains. A lunch stop will also be included during the journey.

Depending on the final route and arrival time, you may have an opportunity to visit a traditional Norwegian stave church.

Check in to a distinctive mountain hotel with a long tradition of welcoming travelers, hikers, and mountaineers.

Overnight: Jotunheimen region
Meals included: Breakfast and lunch

Day 4: Galdhøpiggen, Glacier Adventure and Family Rafting

Enjoy a generous Norwegian breakfast before departing for a full day of outdoor activities.

Travel toward the base of Galdhøpiggen, Norway’s highest mountain. During the drive, learn about the natural environment, cultural traditions, mountaineering history, and everyday life of communities in this remote region.

Norwegian Glacier Experience

Visit one of the area’s magnificent glaciers and learn about the forces that shaped Norway’s mountains and valleys.

Walk through an approximately 70-meter-long, human-made ice tunnel carved into ancient glacial ice. Designed by artist Peder Istad, the tunnel provides an unusual opportunity to enter a world of ice and experience the glacier from within.

The formations, lighting, textures, and cool blue surroundings create one of the most memorable experiences on this Frozen-inspired family adventure.

Family Rafting or River Adventure

After an outdoor lunch break, enjoy an exciting water activity surrounded by beautiful Norwegian landscapes.

Depending on water levels, weather, and the age of participants, the afternoon may include family rafting or another guided river adventure. Experience mountain streams, fresh air, and a manageable dose of excitement under the direction of trained professionals.

Return to the hotel for dinner at its restaurant.

Overnight: Jotunheimen region
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 5: Mountain Journey to Ålesund and Wildlife Safari

After breakfast, travel west toward Ålesund, one of Norway’s most beautiful coastal cities.

The scenic route crosses mountains where snow may remain even during warmer months. Depending on the season and conditions, stop to enjoy the snow, throw snowballs, or create your own Olaf-inspired snowman.

Waterfalls are abundant throughout this region, cascading down mountainsides and through narrow valleys. Some are also connected to Norway’s important hydroelectric power system.

Stop at one of the region’s most impressive waterfalls before continuing toward the coast.

Mountain Viewpoint and Cable Car

Visit an idyllic mountain destination where a cable car takes you to a panoramic viewpoint. From the top, admire sweeping views of the city, surrounding mountains, valleys, and fjords.

Enjoy lunch at a mountaintop café before continuing toward Ålesund.

As you approach the coast, watch the water for possible sightings of dolphins, whales, seabirds, and other marine wildlife.

Ålesund RIB Boat Wildlife Safari

Arrive in Ålesund, a city built across several islands and surrounded by mountains and sea.

After checking in to your hotel, board a high-speed RIB boat for an exciting wildlife and sightseeing safari through the fjords.

Your captain will share local stories and information about the region as you travel through the dramatic coastal landscape. Visit a seal colony and journey toward Runde Island, an important seabird habitat known for its large population of nesting birds, including puffins during the appropriate season.

Bring your camera to capture the cliffs, islands, wildlife, and spectacular coastal scenery.

Return to the hotel for dinner.

Overnight: Ålesund
Meals included: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 6: Historic Mountain Farm and Ålesund Tour

Today, visit a historic farm positioned approximately 225 meters above sea level.

The farm is reached by a narrow path rather than a modern road, creating a memorable journey through the steep Norwegian landscape. The experience may bring to mind Anna’s challenging journey through the mountains as she searched for Elsa.

At the farm, learn about daily life in this isolated location more than a century ago. Residents lived without electricity, elevators, or easy access to surrounding communities. Families faced steep cliffs, harsh weather, and difficult transportation conditions.

Local stories describe how parents sometimes used ropes to protect young children from dangerous drops near the farm.

Travelers who prefer not to make the journey to the farm may remain in Ålesund and enjoy independent sightseeing.

After returning to the city, spend the afternoon at leisure or join a guided tour of Ålesund.

Discover the city’s celebrated Art Nouveau architecture, waterfront neighborhoods, harbor views, and fascinating history. Ålesund was largely rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1904, creating the distinctive architectural character visitors see today.

Enjoy dinner at an inviting local restaurant.

Overnight: Ålesund
Meals included: Breakfast and dinner

Day 7: Ålesund to Geirangerfjord

After breakfast, depart Ålesund and begin a spectacular journey toward Geiranger.

Secret Lake and Hidden Norwegian Stories

Travel to a secluded location known to relatively few visitors. After seeing dramatic fjords and waterfalls, stop beside a beautiful lake with a mysterious story.

The lake’s exceptionally clear water may reveal the remains of structures beneath its surface. Your guide will share the local history and legends connected to this unusual destination.

Hjørundfjord and Wild Mountain Valleys

Continue through a lush green valley toward Hjørundfjord, widely considered one of Norway’s most beautiful and unspoiled fjords.

Surrounded by steep mountains, quiet villages, and dramatic natural scenery, Hjørundfjord offers a peaceful contrast to Norway’s more frequently visited destinations.

Hellesylt to Geiranger Fjord Cruise

Board a ferry in Hellesylt for one of the most scenic fjord cruises in Norway.

Cruise through Geirangerfjord while admiring steep mountain walls, abandoned farms, powerful waterfalls, and isolated landscapes. The journey offers exceptional views of one of Norway’s most celebrated natural attractions.

Arrive in the picturesque village of Geiranger, surrounded and protected by towering mountains.

In earlier times, communities in this region were often isolated during winter. Boats provided an essential connection to the outside world, but severe weather and frozen conditions could make travel extremely difficult.

Check in to your hotel and enjoy the evening in Geiranger.

Overnight: Geiranger
Meals included: Breakfast

Day 8: Geiranger to Oslo and Farewell Dinner

After breakfast, board a comfortable coach and travel to Otta, a small Norwegian town in the Gudbrandsdalen Valley.

From Otta, take a relaxing train journey back to Oslo. Enjoy views of valleys, rivers, forests, mountains, farms, and traditional communities along the route.

After arriving in Oslo and checking in to your hotel, enjoy free time before the evening’s farewell celebration.

Gala Dinner at Frognerseteren

Travel to Frognerseteren, a historic restaurant located high above Oslo.

Along the way, watch for a large troll figure greeting travelers from the hillside. Trolls are an important part of Norwegian folklore and add another fairy-tale element to this Norway Frozen tour.

At Frognerseteren, enjoy a special gala dinner in a traditional setting with panoramic views. Professional musicians dressed in Norwegian folk costumes will provide entertainment during the evening.

Overnight: Oslo
Meals included: Breakfast and gala dinner

Day 9: Departure from Oslo

After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye to Norway.

Transfer arrangements may be made for your departure, or you may extend your vacation with additional nights in Oslo.

Spend extra time exploring the city’s museums, waterfront, parks, shops, cultural attractions, and restaurants before returning home.
