Day 1. Once you arrive at the Chisinau International Airport, a representative from our company will meet and accompany you to the hotel. You will receive an information package with maps, guides and contact numbers. At dinner you can taste homemade wine, such as Lidia – white or Isabella – red with ruby shades.
Day 2. After a panoramic tour of the town, you will be able to see the millenary smile of the nicest mammoth of Moldova. You will find him in the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum, next to famous archaeological treasures, Bessarabia carpets, national costumes and other valuable exhibits. You will continue the journey by exploring a new city, this time an underground city. Riding a bus or driving your car you will descend to 80 m depth. Measuring about 200 km, all underground streets make up the largest network of caves ever dug by man. Due to the impressive collection of 2 million bottles, Milestii Mici was introduced in 2006 in the Guinness Book. You will feel like a king here, admiring the flames of the fireplace and tasting 20-30 years old wines, along with selected national dishes.
Day 3. After breakfast you will be invited to discover the ingredients of Moldovan vermouth from Dubasari factory. During the soviet period the „Buchetul Moldovei” wine was one of the most popular on the market. This vermouth is the older brother of the Italian „Martini” and contains infusions of more than 20 varieties of plants. You will spend the second part of the day in Cricova underground galleries. You will see over seventy streets covering an area of nearly 53 hectares, each bearing Bacchic names: Sauvignon, Cabernet, Cahor… There is one story always told in this place about the Russian pilot Yuri Gagarin, who during a visit in 1966, after getting tipsy, got lost and missed the exit. He went out the next day, having spent the night in the tasting room, currently named after him. Here you can also admire the oldest bottle of wine, dating from 1902.
Day 4 . The „Adormirea Maicii Domnului” Church of Causeni will be the first stop on this day. It is the only church from Moldova that has walls decorated with medieval frescoes. You will most certainly notice that the church is buried halfway into the ground. This is explained by the prohibitions of the Tatar domination period, when Christian churches were not allowed to be higher than a soldier on horseback. In the afternoon you will have the chance to discover history in a bottle. The trip will continue with the French style Purcari Winery. The winery is famous all over the world due to the „Negru de Purcari” legendary wine – the elixir which, they say, was appreciated even by the nobles of the Court of Queen Victoria. This wine won its first gold medal in 1878. In the tasting room, decorated in royal style, you will have the opportunity to taste the Purcari wines and enjoy a lunch prepared from local ecological products.
Day 5. After breakfast, you will have the possibility to walk around Chisinau for a while and buy wines you loved most during your stay in Moldova. Please notice that prices for Moldavian wines a rather low. Good collection wines start from 7 Euros per bottle.
